Enduro racing – The fun way to get some k’s in the legs!

The All New 08 SID

OK, So Enduro Racing has been a big thing for a while now and as it seems there is almost an Enduro race of some sort every weekend.

Well after racing the MONT 24hr just this weekend – THE Original 24hr in Australia that is. I can see why Enduro racing became so popular so quickly after the running of this race a few years ago. After helping set up camp in the SRAM tent I was able to take a moment to take in the atmosphere. You can look around the massive paddocks filled with tents, sponsors and families / friends who have come in to support for the weekend and you just know you are going to have a good time.

The Race location being Mt Majura Pines (Contains some of Canberra's premium MTB trail riding). From years of coming to and from this place I can truly say I really do enjoy riding at this location every time I come there.

I was entered in a SRAM 6 man corporate team which was fairly relaxed in the approach…. Somehow I was elected to start the race, and so on….  Nah.. –  truly we all put a solid effort all weekend and managed to have some fun along the way.

The course was a good 30 min lap – and even faster for the Elite Guys. I had a few stints at doing 2-3 laps which worked out really good, I need the hrs and k's at the moment to get the old legs back into the swing of things.

SRAM had its Australian Launch of the NEW SID Rock Shox Suspension fork. The SRAM boys were really great – alongside racing the Mont 24hr they were also wrenching (SRAM NRS – Neutral Race Support) and as a special treat any rider who wanted to sample the NEW SID forks were welcome to have them professionally fitted for them to ride for 2 laps – all of this service for Free!

I was lucky enough to test the New SIDs, and I have to say that they are redefining the light weight race fork. The New SIDs are really plush, really light, redesigned from the ground up and will be released in Australia early next year.

In all the 2007 Mont 24hr was a great experience which was not too serious experienced with some great friends and a big thanks needs to go to Michelin, Monza Imports and the SRAM boys and Gals (Thanks Mary) and everyone else that made the event such a great weekend.
