Race Day 2

National Series Short Course Mt Beauty

Short Course for me at Mt Beauty has always been a great event. It is short, fast, and really exciting to be part of and to watch. As usual the Elite race was last cab off the ranks, but hey I think they left the best till last. This race was amazing to be part of and to mix things up for the start line riders were called up in order of their fastest XC lap on race day Saturday. I was called up somewhere mid field and positioned myself well whilst the course was being prepared for our race.

“The Gun can go at any time after the 15 seconds call” … Bang and we were Off!! I knew I had to be aggressive straight away, I pushed through the pack till I was top 6 through the first left wide open corner. I made it!, as we all raced for a tree switchback corner – before you knew it someone caused a huge crash / pile up – Turns out Winny went right over the bars as he got tangled up. Back to the front of the race it was Tabelay, Rowney, Mc Connell, Maebus, Spink, Lewis, and Van Der Ploeg. We were all vying for positions and really trying to push the pace. Soon Rowney crashes after “Burping Air out of his tyre”, suprised we all keep pushing on. I wanted to really push the pace and string the race out as much as possible. The race for me was very similar to last years short course as to how the race played out. I didn’t care I just wanted to really push the pace. Rowney managed to make contact with our group after he had Pez Bury himself so Rowney could jump across. Last lap and we all are throwing down the HP on the last straight.

Great Race, I finished 6th and had some really nice compliments given to me after the race.

Photos are coming soon!
